Amiability

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless” – Mother Teresa

I would confidently like to say that I believe this is one of the strongest counseling dispositions I have embodied thus far to this point in my educational journey as a counselor in training; but as mentioned, there is always room for continued growth and improvement.

It is important the as counselors, we create a safe space, and one of the main ways that this can be accomplished is through being amiable, present, friendly, connected, curious, and respectful in our interactions with our clients, without colleagues, with our supervisors, and within our community. Without this disposition, therapeutic trust cannot form, and without that the therapeutic relationship and alliance we expect to form with all the people mentioned would be negatively impacted, as well as the treatment and well- being of our clients.

I aim to continue to grow in this area by finding new ways to connect, to network within my community and with other professionals in addition to my clients, to gain new insight, and new resources that can help me offer all around comprehensive care to our clients, and not only that, but more importantly, make a long- standing positive impact with my clients and help solidify in their minds that I care and that they matter.

Within this page you will find an artifact of mine that contains a Biopsychosocial assessment of a client I had worked with in the latter half off my internship. Please note that all HIPPA identifying information has been modified or omitted.
